News of a base rate cut has failed to prevent a mini freefall on the FTSE 100 today, the index slipping 151.3p, or 2.58%, to 5,724.1
Yell Group dropped a whopping 15.23% to 279.75p, followed by Rolls-Royce and Alliance & Leicester.
BG Group, up 41 points, or 3.81%, to £11.18, headed the day’s winners list, followed by Smith & Nephew and Carphone Warehouse.
In the US, the Dow Jones slipped 12.36 points, or 0.1%, to 12187.74 by mid-day trading.
