Markets fail to recover as FTSE falls 117.9 points

The FTSE fell 117.9 points, or 1.9%, this afternoon to 6102.2p.

Drax rose 10.5 points, or 1.65%, to 645p. Enterprise Inns rose 5.5 points, or 0.9%, to 613.5p. British Airways rose 3.5 points, or 0.86%, to 412.75p. Punch Taverns rose one point, or 0.1%, to 1049p. ITV rose 0.1 points, or 0.09%, to 106.9p. Lonmin fell 191 points, or 6.02%, to 2981p. Schroders fell 54 points, or 4.67%, to 1103p. Standard Life fell 12.75 points, or 4.29%, to 284.5p. Experian fell 22 points, or 4.13%, to 511p. Alliance & Leicester fell 41 points, or 3.91%, to 1008p. The Dow Jones fell 141.68 points, or 1.06%, opening at 13180.45.
