Pensioners who have not yet claimed from the Pension Credit scheme are being urged to do so, as the average payout to a new applicantis around £1,000.
Pension Minister Malcolm Wicks has urged people to add a call to the Pension Credit applications line to their Christmas 'to-do' list. Wicks said in line with the year’s budget; Pension Credit applications can be updated for up to a maximum of 12 months if eligible. “Many pensioners think they are not eligible for a variety reasons, but you can still get Pension Credit if you live with your family, receive financial support from them, receive housing benefit or own your own home,” says Wicks.
