A straw poll of IFAonline readers is predicting the next government will spring a u-turn on all pensions changes recently announced.
In the poll, 41% of 117 respondents believe the government will retract legislation on all pensions changes, compared to just 1% who believe the pensions industry will actually be left alone. Interestingly, 29% of readers believe protected rights may be the next issue on the government’s hitlist, after a consultation by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on removing the restrictions on protected rights was rolled into a review of the annuity market’s open market option (OMO) in the Pre-Budget Report.
