Former Sesame chief executive Patrick Gale has been named chief operating officer at Just Retirement.
Gale, also appointed a main board director at the retirement specialists, left IFA network Sesame in December last year after overseeing its sale to Friends Provident.
His appointment comes just five months after he was named as a non-executive director of HBOS Financial Services.
Just Retirement says Gale will manage the group’s day-to-day operations with a specific responsibility for the marketing, distribution and information technology functions.
Mike Fuller, CEO of Just Retirement, says: “The Board and I are delighted that we have been able to attract someone of Patrick’s outstanding experience and calibre to help drive the continued development of Just Retirement.
“Given the importance of distribution and technology to our future success, Patrick’s experience at Sesame is particularly relevant to our business.
“His involvement will allow the Board to devote more time to the strategic development of the Group’s business to take advantage of the substantial market and product opportunities which we have.”
At Sesame, Gale, 48, was responsible for the high-level management of the business from 2000, Sesame’s relationships with major UK banks and insurance companies and for FSA liaison at board level.
He has also held a number of senior appointments on industry-wide reviews and representative bodies and, prior to 2000, was a director of the banking division of Misys Group, the owner of Sesame.
