Price of an average house price in England and Wales rose 12.62% in 2003 from £145,251 to £163,584, according to the official Land Registry.
Quarterly residential property figures reveal Wales saw the highest house price climb in 2003, as its properties grew an average 24.5% from £89,342 to £111,272, while Greater London saw a rise of just 7.78%, increasing the average London property value from £241,838 to £260,659.
At the same time, however, 760 London properties worth over £1m were sold in 2003, suggest the October – December figures, says the Land Registry.
