Legal & General's pensions technical team - headed by Colin Batchelor - has published a booklet to help IFAs stay one step ahead of the government pension simplification proposals.
The profile, called 'Pensions Simplification – Time and tide wait for no plan' , has been created to offer an in-depth analysis of the Inland Revenue’s pensions tax simplification paper, which is likely to come into effect next year.
Running through the most important aspects of the IR's second consultation document – from the lifetime allowance to the protection – the guide forms a part of L&G’s new technical support service available for IFAs.
Colin Batchelor, L&G’s head of pensions technical services, says: “It is clear that any attempt at pensions simplification will be complex in its delivery and the need for advice will be considerable.
“This means we will see an increased need for technical support for those IFAs operating in the retirement planning markets,” he says.
L&G plans to produce more briefings and support material for advisers, similar to the simplification guide.IFAonline
