In London, markets recovered from yesterday's turmoil, with the FTSE 100 adding 191.4 points (3.54%) to 5,605.8.
Schroders NV saw the biggest gains, up 80 points (10.92%) to 812.5p, while Man Group added 43.5 points (8.95%) to 529.5p. Lloyds TSB Group saw the only major loss, down 13.25 points (3.33%) to 384.5p, while Yell Group dropped a minor 0.6 points (0.41%) to 146.4p. On Wall Street, markets saw a significant gain as Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers revealed better than expected results and the Dow Jones jumped 250.59 points (2.09%) to 12,222.84.
