The government's pledge to keep spending at high levels has not un-nerved the stockmarket, where the FTSE 100 index is currently virtually unchanged on its morning opening level of 4,429.
The index fell as much as 17 points earlier today, but has since recovered.
Stocks have just opened higher for a second day in a row in the US.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index is currently up about 38 points to 10,223 after half and hour of trading, after logistics companies and investment banks again reported growing profits.IFAonline
