Thames River Capital has appointed Graeme Pollok, a senior figure from the FSA, as compliance and risk manager.
Pollok joins with immediate effect and strengthens the compliance, risk and legal team, which now totals eight.
The team manages legal and management risk on a daily basis across all portfolios, and operational risk across Thames River’s firms.
His appointment follows the establishment of an Internal Audit function and the hiring of internal auditor, Dominic Keh, who joined Thames River from Deutsche Bank.
Most recently, Pollok was technical specialist in the FSA’s Alternative Investments Team since December 2007.
He was responsible for the supervision of the largest UK hedge fund managers, reviewing their operational risk and ensuring they operate in line with the FSA’s statutory objectives.
Prior to joining the FSA in 2005, Pollok was portfolio manager at Montpelier Asset Management. He also spent eight years with Deutsche Bank AG in a number of positions, culminating in senior associate director of emerging markets proprietary trading.IFAonline
