Scottish Widows launches alternatives funds

Scottish Widows has launched two alternative assets funds, the Diversified Assets fund and the Dynamic Property fund. The funds bring the provider's total life and pension funds to 122.

The Diversified Assets fund invests in traditional bonds, equities and property as well as commodities, absolute return funds and private equity. The fund invests 100% into the Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) Diversified Assets fund, a UK-based unit trust, launched in December 2006. Jeff King, investment director of global strategy and balanced funds at SWIP, and Ken Adams, head of global strategy, manage the fund.
