Orbiter has integrated over 40 lenders' affordability calculations within its online system as it moves from a sourcing system to become a common trading platform.
Among the lenders with affordability calculators linked to Orbiter are: Abbey National, Cheltenham & Gloucester, Halifax, HSBC, ING Direct, Nationwide, Northern Rock Standard Life and Woolwich.
Listing products from over 120 lenders, the Orbiter system is updated four times daily. It also provides its users with full details of non intermediary products available direct to lender for a whole of market picture.
The latest development "is another step towards our aim of delivering a common trading platform to the industry," says Andrew Brown, managing director of Orbiter.
"Our system will now work in the background carrying out affordability checks with the lender without the broker lifting a finger and deliver the results back in Orbiter."
Robert Kelly, group IT director at Orbiter, says the system increases an adviser's productivity.
"We recently tested the system against a major sourcing engine in the market and found it to be nearly 6 times faster when sourcing a basic mortgage case and obtaining an affordability pass from a lender.
"Most importantly this is not paper talk of the future, this is live and available today," he adds.
