Antofagasta rose 24 points, or 3.22%, to 769p. Scottish & Newcastle rose 20.5 points, or 2.77%, to 761p. Lonmin rose 65 points, or 2.03%, to 3265p. Vedanta Resources rose 23 points, or 1.17%, to 1992p. Cable and Wireless rose 2.1 points, or 1.16%, to 182.9p.
The Dow Jones fell 76.08 points, or 0.57%, to 13223.93c yesterday.
Walt Disney fell 1.15 points, or 3.48%, to 31.86c. International Business Machines fell 1.83 points, or 1.74%, to 103.44c. Microsoft Corporation fell 0.53 points, or 1.54%, to 33.93c. Caterpillar fell 1.04 points, or 1.46%, to 70.03c. AT&T fell 0.51 points, or 1.28%, to 39.34c.
Wal Mart Stores rose 0.54 points, or 1.17%, to 46.51c. Honeywell International rose 0.38 points, or 0.65%, to 58.52c. Alcoa rose 0.23 points, or 0.63%, to 36.86c. Coca Cola rose 0.32 points, or 0.52%, to 61.36c. American International Group rose 0.25 points, or 0.42%, to 59.43c.
