Steve Haggerty, chairman of Homeloan Management Ltd (HML), has been appointed managing director of Skipton Building Society.
Haggerty will report to chief executive John G Goodfellow and will be responsible for trading performance of the society and will become an executive director on the board.
Haggerty joined HML in 1990, becoming managing director in 2000, with assets under management of £5.2bn. During his time at HML, he increased assets to over £50bn.
Goodfellow comments: “I have worked with Steve Haggerty for many years and have a high regard for his abilities. He has done a great job at HML and, more recently, as Group Commercial Director looking after a number of our subsidiary operations.”
Acting managing director of HML, Damian Stansfield, adds: “This is great news for Steve personally and for the Group. On behalf of all his friends and colleagues at HML, including many who have worked with him for more than a decade, I would like to add our warm congratulations on his new appointment.”
HML’s new managing director, Brian Brodie, will take charge on 14 January 2008.
