Whitbread rose 51 points, or 3.27%, to 1609p. Kelda rose 22.5 points, or 2.72%, to 848.5p. Severn Trent rose 31 points, or 2.38%, to 1336p. Cable and Wireless rose 3.6 points, or 2.2%, to 167.2p. Home Depot rose 8.75 points, or 2.16%, to 413.25p. Rexam fell eight points, or 1.54%, to 510p. Aviva fell 9.5 points, or 1.35%, to 695.5p. Standard Chartered fell 16 points, or 1.09%, to 1454p. Persimmon fell 11 points, or 0.95%, to 1153p. Xstrata fell 23 points, or 0.81%, to 2809p. The Dow Jones rose 123.15 points, or 0.94%, this morning to 13165c.
