Recent analysis carried out by UK fund supermarket FundsNetwork has identified that 87% of the 200 best-selling funds on the platform have been awarded at least one Citywire, S&P or OBSR 'A' rating or above.
The results of the analysis showed that of the top 200 sellers, 101 (51%) had Citywire 'A' ratings or above, 128 (64%) had OSBR 'A' rating or above and 139 (70%) had an S&P 'A' rating or above. Only 15% of the least popular 200 have an 'A' rating or above from these groups.
Rob Fisher, Marketing Director at FundsNetwork, said: "The decision to do the analysis was made because we thought it was something that would interest people, but the results were so compelling they surprised us as well.
"I think the results should be seen as a piece of evidence that although there are always exceptions to the rule, a strong rating by these groups is also a good pre-requisite to success
"And although we're not saying those without these ratings will struggle, their success would be against the trend."
