AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Paul Griffiths to the position of global head of fixed income. Griffiths assumes the position from Robert Kyprianou who is focusing on his role as CEO of AXA Framlington. Griffiths will be responsible for the business management of AXA IM's fixed interest operations globally. He will continue his roles as CEO and CIO of AXA IM UK and report to Nicolas Moreau, Global CEO of AXA IM.
Skandia has extended its access to external fund managers with the addition of three Aegon funds to the group's life, pension and fund supermarket products. Aegon Ethical Equity, Global Bond and Sterling Corporate Bond are all Forsyth-OBSR AA-rated funds and bring the number of Skandia's external life and pension asset management links to 45. The new funds will join Skandia's existing offerings on SkandiaWrap for inclusion in client portfolios with immediate effect.
F&C has added to its UK government bond desk with the appointment of Paul Grice as head of UK and international government bonds. Grice joins F&C from Baring Asset Management where he was director of fixed income and currencies. The group has also promoted Michael De Bruin to head of euro government bonds. De Bruin, who is a senior fixed income investor at F&C Netherlands, has been with the company since 2003. The pair will report to Helen Roberts, head of government bonds.
Close Finsbury Asset Management will be offering a 1% discount on the initial charge on all investments made into the group's Far East Equity and Continental European Equity funds until 30 April 2006. With a normal charge of 4.5% (now 3.5%), this offer will also apply to those investing into these funds via the MileStones Plan, Close Finsbury's dedicated children's investment plan. The Far East Equity fund is advised by Stephen Swift of Jade Absolute whereas the continental European fund is advised by Charles Glasse and Chris Garsten of 2CG.
Skandia Investment Management has made four senior appointments in its investment, marketing, broker desk and research teams. Ryan Hughes joins from Chartwell as investment marketing analyst, reporting to Alan Durrant. Caren Oxford joins as a marketing manager; Paula Watson comes in as head of broker support services and Lombard Olivier joins as a senior analyst.
