Some 98% of marketing material intermediaries received from fund management groups is of no help in selling to clients, according to a report by Market Watch on marketing communications in the run up to the Isa season, from 1 November 2002 to 30 April 2003. It revealed only six of the 53 fund groups analysed produced documents specifically targeted at intermediary sales efforts. Most consisted of technical descriptions and information on fund performance. The study also found that IFAs receive an average of 86 pages worth of marketing literature every day.
