Threadneedle expects the continental economies to recover on the back of positive company earnings. William Davies, head of European equities at the group, predicts a 3% earnings rebound for 2002 and 17% for 2003. According to Davies both the micro and macro-economic data support an optimistic outlook and he believes the recovery in corporate earnings will be a key driver of European markets.
