Shares in Trafficmaster, the telematics company that was one of the worst performers in the FTSE 250 last year, bounced back on these results for 2000 and news that it had a deal with Palm to supply traffic information. Both turnover and pre-tax profits were down on 1999 after heavy spending building up traffic detection networks across Europe, but the company has promised that spending will go down this year. Analysts have cautiously welcomed the Palm deal but warn that the company cannot afford to get it wrong this year.
