Three funds from the recently-launched fund of funds service from Credit Suisse Asset Management have received Standard & Poor's Fund Research ratings.
The Balanced Strategic, Constellation, a fund of boutique funds and UK Strategic funds all received A(new) ratings and all are managed by the team that Credit Suisse recruited from Rothschild Asset Management last year.
The team, which includes Gary Potter, Robert Burdett and Kelly Prior, was praised by the ratings agency for its experience, consistent approach and performance record.
The ratings are awarded to newly launched funds run by managers that have proved themselves on other vehicles by laying down strong track records over significant periods of time. S&P said the investment process the team employs at Credit Suisse largely mirrors the approach it took at Rothschilds, where it achieved solid returns for investors.
It also said the ratings come despite a deterioration in performance of Potter and Burdett since they were last reviewed by the ratings group in September 2000. Despite that, the managers produced outperformance against their peers in three of the past five years.
It also cited the recent recruitment of a dedicated dealer to the team, as well as an assistant fund manager.
