large groups team up to collect late isa forms as sales look muted
Entering the final working week of the Isa season, the last preparations for taking late Isa applications have been finalised by fund management groups.
Only a handful have decided that it is worth the trouble to run drop-off points where intermediaries can come in person to drop off their applications on 4 and 5 April.
Jupiter and Fidelity, two of the strongest Isa takers, are running solo drop-off points around the country and Edinburgh Fund Managers will also be operating its own Isa pick-up points.
Many of the larger groups have decided the volume of business expected does not justify going it alone and have teamed up with Cofunds to offer venues around the UK. These groups are Hendersons, Invesco Perpetual, Aberdeen, ABN Amro, M&G and New Star.
Schroders has decided it will not run drop-off points, as it does not expect a large last-minute rush of business, but, like the majority of firms, it will be taking applications on the final day of the season at its own offices in Gresham Street.
Other firms that are following this example are Threadneedle and Artemis. Threadneedle's Swindon office at Signal Point, Station Road, and London office at 60 St Mary's Axe, EC2, will both be open until midnight.
Threadneedle's broker line will also take calls 0800 0684000.
MLIM will take late Isas until midnight on 5 April at its King William St, London offices but will not be taking any internet or fax applications.
Artemis will be taking applications online until 10pm at www.artemisonline.co.uk.
Deadlines for postal Isa applications vary between the groups and it is up to intermediaries to contact groups who establish exact arrangements. As well as physical drop-off points, late applications to Jupiter can be made up until midnight online at www.jupiteronline.co.uk, or by phone on 020 7314 7600.
Similarly, Fidelity's Funds- Network will be taking applications until midnight, as will its broker line on 0800 414181.
Gartmore will be accepting applications from investors through its dealing line, 0870 601 6103, up to midnight on 5 April. Investors are also able to apply for unit trusts Isas via its website, www.gartmore.com, again up until midnight.
Faxed applications, 0870 888 3032, will also be accepted up until midnight.
Edinburgh Fund Managers is taking late online applications until 11pm on 5 April at www.edfd.com. EFM's intermediary support desk will stay open until 6pm.
Partner Insight: For Blackfinch, the arrival of its IHT portfolio services was a 'natural evolution' in the group's offering and points to an established track record of returning cash to investors.
