ED&F Man is set to launch a guaranteed multi-strategy hedge fund product, Man-Glenwood Select, the second to be released since its buyout of former joint-venture partner Glenwood in October 2000.
The first, Man-Glenwood Nexus, a multi-strategy product with a guarantee provided by Chase Manhattan, began trading in January 2001 with assets of around $90m.
The product is structured to target a diverse range of alternative investment strategies, including balanced equity, long or short equity, sectoral or regional, relative value, and merger and reorganisation.
Chicago-based fund of funds manager Glenwood has a 14-year track record of constructing and managing multi-strategy portfolios.
John Kelly, marketing director of Man Investment Products, said: "One advantage of Glenwood's long track record is that Man-Glenwood enjoys privileged access to leading alternative investment managers, some of whom are otherwise closed to new investment."
The offer period is 12 February to 23 March. The product will be issued in the form of redeemable, structured guaranteed bonds with a minimum investment of e50,000 or $50,000.
