Investor relations service firm BrokerLink has launched a website which allows investors to link directly to the home page of nearly 1,200 UK-listed companies.
Almost 70% of all companies listed on the London Stock Exchange now have websites, although more than one in five company receptionists do not know the address, according to research done by the firm.
Of the 1,679 companies listed on the London Stock Exchange or Aim, 1,172 said they had a website. Of those only 254 who were asked for the company website either put the caller on hold or transferred the call.
Its latest site, a supplement to its existing site at www.brokerlink.co.uk which contains online company research, now lists the web addresses of all UK quoted companies.
By clicking on the company name, its website will then open in a separate window, making it easier for users to look up more than one company.
Eric Burns, manager for the BrokerLink online service, said: "With more and more private investors turning to the internet for stock market information, a company's own website is an good starting point for would be investors. Our site provides a simple resources for investors looking to find the website addresses of listed companies."
