Abbey National has added three funds to the range offered through the Abbey National Life Investment Bond, giving investors access to external fund managers for the first time.
The funds are the Inscape Cautious Growth, Inscape Steady Growth and Inscape Higher Growth portfolios. Their underlying assets will be managed by a range of external managers: Axa Rosenberg Investment Management, CDC IXIS Asset Management, Dresdner RCM Global Investors, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Goldman Sachs Asset Management International, Schroder Investment Management International, State Street Global Advisors and Wellington Management International.
Paul Masters, director of Abbey National Life & Investments Marketing, said the external equity-linked funds were designed to offer investors in investment bonds a wider range of funds covering different attitudes to risk.
Masters said: 'This is a first step towards showing how a depolarised approach could work, by offering customers a broader choice of funds and fund management than a single provider can offer.'
The minimum investment through the investment bond is £2,000, up to a maximum of £500,000.
The investment bond is available through Abbey National branch-based advisors or by telephone on 0800 302030.
