Jupiter International has announced the appointment of Stephen Pearson who joins the group's European team. Pearson will have a particular focus on building up Jupiter's hedge fund business.
Pearson is also lined up to manage Jupiter's long/short European equity hedge fund which is planed for launch.
Pearson joins from Sloane Robinson where he was a director and partner, responsible for European Investments. Most notable among the funds Pearson has managed is the SR Pan European Investment Trust, which grew by 372% in the five years to October 1999, compared to an index return of 119%. The SR Europe Fund, an equity hedge fund, where Stephen was responsible for stock selection, returned 135% (euros) from launch in March 1996 until his departure in October 2000.
Jupiter currently manages the Jupiter Hyde Park Hedge Fund, the Jupiter Carme Hedge Fund and has recently launched the Jupiter Fund of Hedge Funds.
Pearson's appointment follows a number of new appointments at Jupiter, most recently Paul Sheehan who joined Jupiter from Dresdner RCM in June.
