Scottish Equitable is hosting computer-based training (CBT) courses for IFAs via the internet.
The life office is offering the CBT courses, distance learning packs and company training courses covering a range of pension, personal investment and general industry issues.
Available through the Assureweb website, the CBT courses will cover National Insurance, contracting out, flexible retirement, AVCs and Free Standing AVCs, occupational pension schemes, personal pensions and GPPs. The distance learning courses feature background to the financial services industry and basic product information. The site also provides information on carry forward/back and retirement annuities.
The company training courses have the added feature of providing exam support for FPC, AFPC and G60 as well as sales training and a compliance course. IFAs can access any of these training aids free of charge on the training/sales aid section of the website.
Ken Hogg, head of marketing at Scottish Equitable, said: "On going training is essential for IFAs as part of their professional development but it can be costly in terms of time. CBT and distance learning courses cut the cost by allowing IFAs to access bite-size chunks at a time that suits them without interfering with time spent in front of clients. The link with Assureweb simply makes it even easier for IFAs to access these courses."
The group also offers a range of company training courses via the more traditional group sessions.
The increase in minimum AE contributions has had little impact on opt-out rates - with cessations after April increasing by less than two percentage points, data from The Pensions Regulator (TPR) shows.
