Standard Life has become the latest major firm to allow IFAs to use UNIPASS to access its extranet ifazone.com.
Norwhich Union, Prudential and Skandia kicked off the UNIPASS revolution earlier this year and will be followed by , Friends Provident, AXA, Assure Web, The Exchange, IFAEngine and others through next year.
Given free to IFAs, UNIPASS is a digital key that allows access to different online financial services without having to remember a mass of passwords.
Companies taking part in the UNIPASS scheme hope that the ability to use a single key will help unlock more ecommerce as fears over security and ease of use are soothed.
The industry's technical standards body behind the scheme, Origo, hopes that all IFAs will someday have a key that will enable access to all providers.
