The Financial Ombudsman Service has published a consultation paper in which it proposes to extend the scope of its voluntary jurisdiction. The paper identifies three areas where its remit could be widened on a firm by firm voluntary basis: mortgage and insurance complaints in relation to events that happened before regulation by FSA and complaints about consumer credit firms.
