The number of business failures in the first quarter of 2003 decreased by almost 3% compared with the first quarter of 2002, according to a survey by Experian. The downward trend began in December 2002, when a modest reduction in business failures was recorded and continued during January and March. However February saw a 5% increase in failures on the previous year.
