CGU is to launch a global equity unit trust next month based on a thematic investment approach, writes Leo Bland.
The Global Success fund, will be launched on 14 February. It will look to invest in stocks which the group believes should benefit from global economic themes and will be run by Morley Fund Management, CGU's investment arm.
The themes which the group has identified as critical in leading to superior earnings growth include demographic trends, positive for pharmaceuticals, and connectivity, which refers to the impact of new forms of communication, such as digital television and internet infrastructure.
Other themes the fund will be based around include e-business, with the revolution in information access and distribution that this involves, and environmental technology, with an example of this theme being firms developing fuel cell technology for cars.
The portfolio will focus on large cap stocks although it may invest in stocks down to a minimum market cap of $500m. Global Success will be Isable.
