Netbenefit was hit hard by the failure of dot.coms over the six months reported. Its core business is registering domain names on behalf of companies and individuals. Two-thirds fewer were registered in the UK in January this year than in March last year. Chairman John Parcell said the performance was "disappointing". He attributed a large proportion of losses to investment in developing software. This cost was now contained and Parcell predicted the company would become "cash neutral"in the near future, as cash burn decreased.
