School children will have a new set of heros to look up to if Ron Sandler has his way as the incoming chairman of the Personal Finance Education Group.
Sandler says he will continue pushing hard to get more personal finance education into schools and follow up on the work done by outgoing chairman Daniel Godfrey, who is also director general of the Association of Investment Trust Companies.
Sandler, who of course produced the report that is set to shake up the way savings products are sold, says that that work has convinced him that there is a huge need to improve the level of understanding of personal finance in the UK.
PFEG is already training more teachers through its Excellence and Access project, in order to meet the objectives it has published of getting a minimum number of school children into personal finance classes.
Sandler has been a clearly present figure at many of the FSA's briefings on the education group's work, which should mean he is easily able to slot into his new role.
