Norwich Union says a new study into the views of employers towards workers over 60 indicates more tha...
The company's survey found that 75% of all UK employeers did not employ anybody over the age of 60.
This ratio is being supported by fears among company managers that older people will cost more because of health reasons, and ongoing stereotypes about the capabilities of older workers, such as their ability to interact with younger workers.
NU points out that the changing demographics of the country will make such view more difficult to hold onto over the coming 10 years.
Until attitudes change significantly, NU's survey is another piece of evidence that the market for equity release needs to be developed to enable retirees to unlock the value of equity tied up in property.
