Coutts & Co is to expand its regional office network by almost 30% and move into offering wealth management services.
The group's expansion plans follow the appointment of Peter Mawdsley and John Williams as client group heads for the regional offices and are responsible for driving the regional expansion programme. Mawdsley and Williams were both formerly senior private bankers for Coutts & Co's Manchester and Midlands-based offices respectively and one of their first initiatives will be to recruit new private bankers for the regional offices.
In 2001, Coutts and Co opened new offices in Tunbridge Wells and Cambridge and the group plans to open another in Liverpool in 2003, which will bring its number of regional offices outside of London to 16.
To date the regional offices have focused on entrepreneur and retired clients, as part of the expansion plans all regional offices will offer wealth management products and services for all Coutts' client groups, including professional executives.
