Richard Batty is to join Standard Life Investments from the 7 July, adding further strength to the company's Strategy team that carries out internal research and analysis underpinning the House View.
Batty, previously working at HSBC Securities, will work as a Global Strategist in the Strategy team where he will be reporting to Andrew Milligan, head of Global Strategy.
As a part of his job, Batty will extend the current strong quantitative modelling techniques and capabilities of the team.
He will especially look at measuring investor sentiment where he will be focusing on such areas as time series analysis and stock screening.
Keith Skeoch, chief investment officer at Standard Life Investments, says Batty's quantitative skills and his intellectually rigorous analysis will suit the company's "focus on change investment approach".
"Richard is the latest in a long line of talent to be drawn to Standard Life Investments since its inception four and a half years ago. This appointment reinforces both our commitment to in-house research and our determination to construct a truly global investment platform," says Skeoch.
The aviation sector's constant evaluation of errors in order to improve safety should be applied to defined benefit (DB) schemes, as too many are repeating the same mistakes again and again, research has shown.
