Jim Spowart, chief executive of Intelligent Finance, will take on the role of director of special projects within the HBOS group, reporting directly to James Crosby, group ceo.
Spowart's role at Intelligent Finance will be taken up by Grenville Turner, currently head of intermediary sales at HBOS Retail. Ian Corfield, head of intermediary sales partnerships at HBOS retail, will take on from Turner.
According to HBOS, Spowart will be responsible for exploring opportunities for Intelligent in Europe and America. He will also be responsible for applying Intelligent Finance's new technology elsewhere within the HBOS group in the UK.
He joined Halifax October 1999, and just over a year later Intelligent Finance was launched fully as a telenet bank. In its first 18 months of business, the bank achieved 10.4% of the UK net mortgage market. At launch, Intelligent Finance represented Europe's largest internet enabled call centre.
Prior to IF, Spowart set up and launched Standard Life's telephone banking operation and between 1993 and 1997, he was md of Direct Line Financial Services.
