Odey Asset Management has launched the Odey Latham Global fund with $16.15m of new money from investors including insurance institutions, funds of funds and private individuals.
Domiciled in the Cayman Islands and listed on the Dublin Stock Exchange, the portfolio is a global long/short equity hedge fund. Its emphasis is on risk control then absolute return, which has negative correlation with its indices and peer groups.
Mark Latham, investment director, said: 'This is a truly global fund. The universe is 17,000 quoted equities and the process is 'top-down micro'.
'Proprietary screening systems narrow the field down to a small number of exceptional ideas each day, which we then examine for qualitative factors.'
James Higgo, marketing director, said: 'The launch of Odey Latham Global completes a phase of significant expansion that has taken place at Odey Asset Management over the past 18 months. We have upgraded our infrastructure and made a number of senior appointments.'www.ifaonline.co.uk
