UK consumers are under-insured against long-term ill health according to Swiss Re Life & Health. The annual shortfall in income protection cover is £130bn, according to Alan Tyler, health and welfare strategy manager. Tyler said this is a conservative estimate and suggests that only 20% of the working population's needs are covered by IP insurance.
