Members of the European Association of Securities Dealers have given their unanimous support to proposal which will merge APCIMS with EASD to create a single European trade association for the securities industry.
Support for the deal to merge EASD - which has 118 member firms - into APCIMS was given to the board at an extraordinary general meeting in Brussels.At an extraordinary general assembly in Brussels.
EASD Chairman Andrew Beeson says:
"Future market changes will bring an ever increasing harmonisation of activities across Europe, from share trading to clearing and settlement. Our combined ability as a single representative body to represent this growing industry and to influence these changes will be significantly greater than we could have achieved alone."
The proposal will now be put to APCIMS' 211 member companies at an Extraordinary General Meeting in London on Tuesday 5th March 2002.
