Almost two fifths of the public believe a lump sum is needed to invest in the stock market, according to a survey from Insight Investments. The fund management group argues the research demonstrates misunderstanding about the basic principles of investment is the greatest barrier to participation in the market. The belief that advice is expensive is the other major barrier.
