Aberdeen Asset Management has launched a monthly report service mapping out the asset allocation of every split-cap, including its debt and exposure to other vehicles in the sector.
The report, which is published in conjunction with Fundamental Data, ranks every split by asset allocation and capital structure and seeks to quantify the extent of weakness or strength of the different split shares in the market as a whole.
Piers Currie, head of investment trusts at Aberdeen, said the aim of the monthly report, which sits alongside the group's SplitsOnline daily internet service, is to create more transparency.
He said: 'While we acknowledge our trusts have not been the best performing recently, we have tried to improve the quality of data. This report allows investors to instantly compare the structures of different splits against each other, adding to SplitsOnline, which gives daily updated redemption yields, covers and hurdle rates.'
The report is in four sections, the first of which contains a brief commentary on each of the various share classes by Lewis Aaron from Fundamental Data. A second element lists all corporate announcements made in the sector over the previous month.
The third section of the report contains estimated capital structures and asset allocations of the different splits. The last section contains supplementary statistics by share type, which can be used as a guide to evaluate current share valuations.
The report is available at www.splitsonline.co.uk
