Peter Chambers, global CIO of both Gartmore Group and its London arm, Gartmore Investment Management, has departed after his dual role was effectively dissolved.
Chambers was offered an alternative position at Gartmore, which he declined. His role will now be spread between three people.
Roger Bartley retains his role as head of fixed income in London but also becomes global CIO, fixed income.
Young Chin has been made global CIO for equities for the Gartmore Group. He combines his new position with his existing role as CIO for the US business but has transferred his responsibilities for US fixed income to Bartley. Chin joined the Gartmore Group's US division, Gartmore Global Investments in September 2001 as US chief investment officer. He was previously head of equity management for Brown Brothers Harriman in New York. Chin will report to Paul Hondros, CEO Gartmore Group.
Quintin Price has joined Gartmore Investment Management in London as CIO of equities and will join its board, subject to regulatory approval. Previously Price was head of global fundamental research with Putnam Investments in Boston where he was responsible for all equity, credit and macro economic research. Price will report to Chin and Glynn Jones, CEO of Gartmore Investment Management
Jones said: 'We have been reviewing what leadership resources and structure are now needed in our Investment Division. We have concluded that we need to focus our expertise by establishing a full-time CIO role overseeing the equity capabilities of Gartmore in London and establish a clearer specialist focus on the development of our equities and fixed income capabilities.'
