Franklin Templeton is to launch five funds into the UK market via its Dublin-based unit trust platform, including a US equity offering.
These will mirror the most popular portfolios in its Luxembourg-based Sicav fund range. The group gained the Dublin platform through its acquisition of Fiduciary in April this year.
Subject to Central Bank approval, one fund Franklin Templeton is looking to bring into the Dublin platform, to be renamed Franklin Templeton Global, will be the US Equity fund, which has more than $600m in the Luxembourg Sicav.
Jamie Hammond, Franklin Templeton's newly appointed sales and marketing director, said: 'Our focus at the moment is on top discretionary accounts as this is where most of our business is.
'However, we aim to raise our profile in the UK market and will look at the adviser market going into 2002.'
Hammond, previously sales and marketing director at Fiduciary, said stage two of the group's development in attacking the UK market will be a review of the Oeic range it currently offers. At present, this consists of the Templeton Growth, Franklin Biotechnology and Franklin US Aggressive Growth funds.
Hammond said: 'This is not the best range of funds from a UK development perspective. We are looking at bringing in more country and region specific funds so we have an offering in all the key sectors that are popular in the UK.'
