Schroders is to rejig its IFA sales team to place a more specialised focus on selling to national brokers and networks, writes Leo Bland.
The investment house is looking to recruit a dedicated account manager for nationals and networks and the group believes that its product range is now more suited to selling to this group of IFAs.
Nationals and networks are currently handled by Schroders' regionally-based IFA sales team which has six members. It also has two sales staff focused on strategic partnerships such as life office links.
Robin Stoakley, client services director at the group, said that Schroders splits the IFA market up into discretionary asset managers, large bespoke advisers which offer a fund management service, networks and nationals, brokers offering a comprehensive product service and smaller IFAs not in networks.
Stoakley added that Schr-oders now had strength in the more popular areas of the retail market such as corporate bonds, with the recent launch of the Schroder Monthly High Income fund, and also in Europe, with the appointment of Mark Pignatelli as head of European equities earlier this year.
Schroders restructured its marketing and investor services teams at the start of the year, splitting its marketing department into five areas including wholesale marketing which covers IFAs, other intermediaries and life office links.
The other teams are e-marketing, product management and research, consumer marketing and corporate communications and investment writing. The new teams report to marketing director Robert Higginbotham.
Schroders has also introduced two new investor telephone services to replace its existing broker line, client line and helpline.
The investor service number is 0800 718 777 and the specialised dealing number is 0800 718 788.
The 50-strong investor services team has been reorganised into three specialist teams covering dealing, client liaison, including product and market information and client services covering more general queries.
