Royal & SunAlliance has increased the number of critical illnesses covered on its Progressive Protection term plan from 17 to 25.
The additional illnesses now covered by the plan include CJD, aorta graft surgery and HIV infection contracted through blood transfusions.
The increased number of illnesses covered will apply to both new and existing customers with immediate effect.
Ronnie Martin, market manager life and health at Royal & SunAlliance, said: "Businesses are increasingly understanding the need for key person life cover.
"This is a burgeoning market for IFAs, who can help small and medium-sized businesses understand the equal importance of critical illness cover. The improvements we have made significantly increase the number of illnesses covered at no extra cost."
The group has also updated its literature supporting the product for both intermediaries and their clients.
