Govett Investments has recruited Philip Davies as investment analyst, focusing specifically on closed-end funds.
His role will be to assist in the management of investment trust portfolios within various Govett managed funds.
Davies joins from HSBC, where he was associate director. He has 20 years of investment trust experience, with companies including UBS, Citicorp Scrimgeour Vickers and Kleinwort Grieveson.
For the past 16 years Davies has originated and published in-depth research on splits and has consulted on portfolio construction for both the institutional and retail market. Noel McEvoy, chief executive officer at Govett, said: 'Davies' role will allow Govett to utilise his immense experience as an investment trust specialist, analysing closed-ended funds including split capital trusts.
'His analysis expertise will be a fantastic additional strength for our asset management and client reporting capability and his product development brief will assist us with opportunities to develop enhanced offerings in the future.'
Govett manages eight investment trust companies designed to offer capital growth, income, or a combination of the two.
