Former managing director of Guardian Unit Managers, Nigel Wright, has been appointed by Dublin-based fund manager KBC Asset Management to spearhead its push into the UK market.
KBC is a strong player in the Irish fund management sector and already has a number of UK
institutions among its clients.
However, officials at KBC believe its consistently above average performance in UK Balanced and Global Equities (ex UK) places it favourably to attract business from those UK institutions who have suffered sustained underperformance in recent years from their existing managers.
KBCAM, formerly Ulster Bank Investment Management Limited, was acquired by Belgium's second largest Financial Services Group, KBC Bank and Insurance Group in July of last year after The Royal Bank of Scotland's take over of Nat West Group.
Wright was formerly with Guardian Royal Exchange as Marketing Director of Guardian Asset Management before becoming Managing Director of Guardian Unit Managers.
