The Merrill Lynch HSBC online investment and banking service is offering all new clients commission free online trading in UK and US shares until 31 October 2001.
A minimum of £10,000, in cash, shares or combination is required to open an account which clients have access to online, by telephone and through a physical network of investment centres.
The offer is limited to 20 online trades per month and to the commission payable on the first £20,000, $30,000 or Euro30,000 consideration for each trade.
Commission will be charged on the balance of any consideration over £20,000, $30,000 or 30,000euros per trade at normal rates.
Merrill Lynch HSBC stresses, however, it reserves the right to withdraw the offer at any time and/or charge commission at its normal rates for any trades in excess of 20 online trades per month.
Trading fees still apply to anyone wishing to carry out trades over the telephone.
