CGU has launched what it claims is the UK's first personalised and comprehensive online home-moving service.
The move follows research to determine customer needs during the house buying process and users can receive immediate updates of newly available homes via e-mail or mobile phone text messaging.
CGU has committed around £40m over three years to develop the service which boasts access to the largest homes online database with properties from over 3,000 estate agent branches throughout the UK, totalling some 180,000 homes for sale. According to the group this represents around 50% of a market that generates fees and associated expenditure in excess of £9bn pa.
Users will be able to search for properties by map or postcode location, arrange their mortgage online, access photographs, and arrange the home-moving process.
The site will also introduce complementary services like an insurance market and a database of home specialists and designers later in the year.
